As a Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe wedding photographer I have worked this venue in every season. But Anna and Matthias were something different. Visiting from Los Angeles, this wildly creative couple brought their whole world with them, including a live concert at their own reception with Matthias on drums and Anna at the mic. Equal parts elegant mountain wedding and full rock show. Entirely them.

The Ritz-Carlton ceremony spaces are some of the most well-designed in the Tahoe region. Whether it is the Woods with its filtered pine light or the Fireside Terrace with the seven-foot fireplace at its back, the venue is built for beautiful photographs. Matthias and Anna chose a setting that balanced the scale of the resort with something that still felt intimate.
The light that afternoon was exactly what a summer Tahoe day promises. Warm, directional, and soft enough to do everything you need. They took their time and it showed in every frame.

Most couples hire a band. Matthias and Anna were the band. At some point during the reception Matthias got behind a drum kit and Anna took the microphone. Their guests went completely sideways in the best possible way. It was the kind of moment that makes a wedding feel like an event rather than just a party.
From a photography standpoint it was a gift. Real energy, real movement, real expressions. Nobody was performing for the camera because they were all too busy watching the couple perform for each other. Those are the frames I live for.

AT THE RITZ
After the show, We took the whole group, bridesmaids, groomsmen, everyone, through the lobby, the bar, the hallways, and whatever else the Ritz had to offer. Champagne already flowing, nobody caring about posing, just a group of people who were fully in it together.
That looseness is exactly what makes a portrait session great. When nobody is trying to look good is when everyone looks their best. These ended up feeling more like a fashion editorial than a wedding gallery and I am not mad about it.

Anna and Matthias did the Ritz-Carlton their way. Elegant ceremony, dinner with their people, a live concert because why not, and then a full lap of the hotel with champagne and everyone losing it in the best way. As a Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe wedding photographer I have seen couples move through this venue in a hundred different ways. These two did it better than most. A genuinely great wedding.
