Loose and Fun Wedding in

A week-long wedding outside YellowstoneCOOKE CITY, MONTANA

Brigette and Eric’s Cooke City Montana wedding was not a one-day event. It lasted a week. About 150 people drove through Yellowstone to get there, took over the whole town, and rode dirt bikes and side by sides from sunup to long after dark. Eric is from Montana. Brigette grew up in Lake Tahoe. They live in Bozeman now, and this was the Montana wedding they threw for all of their people.

THE VENUE

Getting to Cooke City Is Half the StoryCooke City, MT

Cooke City sits just outside the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park. From Bozeman, the only way in is through the park. That was the commute to this wedding. The town is small. A single road through, a few buildings and mountains on every side. With 150 wedding guests, Brigette and Eric basically owned the place for a week. The group got kicked out of the only bar in town… Multiple times. Nobody was surprised..

THE CEREMONY

The best view I’ve ever seenbrigette & eric

They got married on public land, and it was the best view I have ever seen at a wedding. I have shot High Camp at 8,200 feet. I have shot Maui beaches and Napa vineyards. This beat all of them. No venue, no ballroom. Just the mountains and the people who made the drive.

THE LIGHT

Golden Hour From the Top of the MountainA little bit of smoke | Perfection

For golden hour we loaded into an off-road vehicle and drove Brigette and Eric to the peak. There was a little smoke in the air. The right amount. It diffused the sun, turned it orange and stacked the ridgelines behind them in layers of blue. Too much smoke kills a sunset. Too little and the light gets harsh. We got lucky, and we were in the right spot to use it.

Public Land · Cooke City, MT · Summer

Brigette and Eric’s Cooke City Montana wedding was the most fun I have had at a wedding. A Tahoe girl, a Montana guy, 150 friends and a small town that did not know what hit it. Montana wedding photography does not get much better than this.

Planning a Montana wedding?LET’S TALK

I am based in Lake Tahoe and I travel for weddings like this one. Bozeman, Yellowstone and anywhere with big mountains and people who want to have a good time.
