RIVER WEDDING
Bree and Jason got married at Dancing Pines in Sierraville. Close family, warm weather, no fuss. They got ready at Village Camp in Truckee, drove out to the forest for the ceremony, then drove back to Village Camp for dinner and the reception. After the ceremony we made a quick detour for golden hour portraits overlooking the valley.
Small weddings at Dancing Pines have a pace to them that bigger ones do not. Nobody is rushing anywhere. The day moves on its own.
THE CEREMONY
On the banks of the Little Truckee RiverDANCING
PINES
Dancing Pines has a riverside ceremony site right on the Little Truckee River. Tall pines on all sides, the river beside you, 20 private acres with nobody else around. The design of the site is intentionally simple, no permanent structures in the way, no distractions. The surroundings do the work.
Bree and Jason kept it short. Close family standing around them at the river. That was the whole ceremony and it was enough.
THE PORTRAITS

After the ceremony we drove a short distance to a valley overlook for portraits. The Sierra Nevada stretched out in every direction. Late afternoon light, warm and long. Dancing Pines sits in a valley that gets good light and the surrounding area around Sierraville gives you room to work.
With a small group and no cocktail hour schedule to get back to, we had time. That showed up in the photos.
THE RECEPTION
Back in Truckee for dinnerVILLAGE

After portraits the group headed back to Village Camp in Truckee for dinner and the reception. Having the ceremony at Dancing Pines and the reception somewhere else is a smart way to use the venue. You get the river and the pines for the ceremony without being constrained to a single location for the whole day.
Close family, a good meal, and a day that never felt rushed. That is a well-run wedding.
