Megan
& John
Megan and John got married at Everline Resort on a day that delivered exactly what a winter wedding in Olympic Valley should. Fresh snow on the peaks, the valley floor quiet and white, and a golden hour that came off the mountains in a way I did not expect. As an Everline Resort wedding photographer I have seen this venue in every season. Winter is something else entirely.
THE VENUE
Everline Resort sits at the base of Olympic Valley with KT-22 and Granite Chief directly behind it. In summer it is beautiful. After a fresh snowfall in winter it is a completely different place. The valley goes quiet, everything is white, and the mountain light is unlike anything you get in the warmer months.
I have photographed this venue across seasons. Winter is the one most people overlook. It shouldn’t be.
THE GOLDEN HOUR
The valley went gold right before the sun dropped behind the ridge. Fresh snow on the ground, the peaks still catching light from the west, and Megan and John out in the middle of it. That kind of light in winter does not last long. You have maybe fifteen minutes. We used every one of them.
Olympic Valley in winter after a snowfall is one of the best portrait locations I have. Most couples never see it because most weddings here happen in summer. Megan and John got lucky with the timing and made the most of it.
THE CELEBRATION
The ceremony, the portraits in the snow, the reception. Megan and John’s day moved fast the way all wedding days do, but there was a looseness to it that made every part easy to photograph. Nobody was stiff. Nobody was trying too hard. They just got married and had a good time doing it.
This gallery is the whole day start to finish.
Everline Resort & Spa · Olympic Valley, CA · Winter
Fresh snow, a quiet valley, and golden hour off the Sierra. Megan and John’s winter wedding at Everline was the kind of day that reminds you why people come to Tahoe in the first place. Not the summer version everyone knows. The other one.
I know Everline in every season. Winter especially. If you are getting married here and want someone who has been in that valley when the snow is fresh and the light is doing something real, get in touch.
