Fall Wedding at High Camp, Palisades Tahoe, Olympic Valley, California
Dan
& Grace
Big crew. Bigger party.
High Camp · Palisades Tahoe
A fall wedding at 8,200 feet.
Dan and Grace got married at High Camp at Palisades Tahoe on September 7, 2023. A first look in the meadow, a tram ride up the mountain, a ceremony looking out over Lake Tahoe and a big, goofy crew that came to party.
Then we stayed out on the mountain for sunset. Worth it every time.
A big crew of friends and a party to match.

The first look · Olympic Valley meadow
Gold grass and big peaks.
We started in the meadow at the base of the valley. By September the grass has gone gold and the mountains are right there behind you. Dan turned around, saw Grace and that was that.

The tram · Up the mountain
Through the village, then up the tram.
We walked the Village and then rode the Aerial Tram up to High Camp. It's the only way up, and it's one of my favorite parts of the day. The valley drops away under you and the whole thing gets quiet for a minute.

The ceremony · High Camp
Married above Lake Tahoe.
The ceremony was out on the deck at High Camp. Blue sky, a floral arch and Lake Tahoe way off in the distance. Their crew filled every seat and cheered like it was a game.

The party · Inside High Camp
Then it turned into a party.
The reception was inside with the big windows looking out over the mountains. Toasts, a first dance and then a dance floor full of their friends being goofy. This crew did not need a warm up.

Sunset · On the mountain
We snuck out for sunset.
Right before the sun dropped we walked out past the chairlifts onto the ridge. Granite, wind and the Sierra going gold in every direction. Fall light up there is hard to beat.

Is fall a good time for a High Camp wedding?
Yes. September is one of my favorite times up there. The meadow turns gold, the summer crowds thin out and the evening light gets warm and low. Bring a layer for after the sun goes down.

The summit usually runs 15 to 20 degrees cooler than the valley, and it can be windy. A warm afternoon in the meadow can turn into a chilly night on the deck, so tell your guests to bring a jacket.
Can we do a first look in the Olympic Valley meadow?
Yes. Dan and Grace did their first look and family photos in the meadow before heading up the tram. It's open, it has big mountain views and in September the grass is gold.
Where are the best sunset photos at High Camp?
